Being an active member of Qatar Foundation, the Qur’anic Botanic Garden (QBG) conducted an ambitious program for high school students to motivate them to engage with the State's endeavors of food security and meeting the community's need for agricultural products, as those students are young people of today and future leaders of tomorrow.
With the blockade imposed on the State of Qatar, the need to raise the value of food security is particularly urgent, especially with the regional developments. Taking into consideration that Qatar produces about 20-30% of its total agricultural food before the blockade, relying on imports from many countries around the world.
The program tackles the issue of encouraging young Qataris to study agricultural topics by providing subjects with sufficient knowledge of the modern methods that make it easier to overcome the environmental problems facing farmers and make investment feasible in this vital sector.
In accordance with the High Directives of His Highness the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on July 21, 2017, which directed the society, businesspersons, investors and government sectors to work together to diversify sources of income, increase the pace of food security projects and increase the area of agriculture.
