It is a rectangular container of glass or metal where water, perfume, or the like is kept. Some say it is the date-fruit container. It is also said that qawareer refers to fragile glass. The word is also used to refer to women, being as fragile.
Reference in the Quran or Hadith
The word “goblet” is mentioned in the Quran in Allah’s words: “And gleaming silver goblets according to their fancy”. [Al-Insan: 16]
It is also in the hadith: “Be lenient towards the qawareer [women, as they are as fragile as glass goblets].”
