Botanical term

The Hantam is plural, and its singular is Hantama. The term “Hantam” refers to the jars made of clay painted green to dark green. This type of containers was used to transport wines to Medina. With the advent of Islam, the preparation of non-alcoholic drinks in such jars was prohibited, because it was easy to convert them to alcohol by their paints. The term Hantam has also been expanded to include all the types of ceramic jars. Muzaffat is the vessels (containers) coated with tar or bitumen. These vessels were used to make and preserve wines before Islam.
