Tools Made of Palm Fronds

A wide, cylindrical pouch, deep and closed on all sides except for the upper surface which is open. Quffah is made of palm fronds (leaves and wicker), and it has two side loops (ears) that are used for preserving dates, food and flour, and is also used for transporting fresh dates after harvest. Juffair may be called Zabeel in some regions of the Gulf. ‎‎‎


Reference in the Quran or Hadith

A man came to the Prophet (PBUH) and said: “The other person had a sexual intercourse with his wife in Ramadan”. He said: “Can you afford to manumit a slave?” He said: No, he said: “Can you fast for two successive months?” He replied No, he said: “Can you afford to feed sixty poor persons?” He said: No, he said: Then a basket full of dates was brought to the Prophet (PBUH), which isZabil-, The Prophet said (to that man): “Feed (poor people) with this by way of atonement.” He said: “(Should I feed it) to poorer people than we? There is no poorer house than ours between its (Medina’s) mountains. The Prophet said: ” The Prophet (PBUH) said, “Then feed your family with it.” (Narrated by Bukhari)
