Growth form: Pencil pins or Mediterranean Cypress is an evergreen conifer. The pencil pins is normally no more than one meter wide, but this evergreen forms tall, dark green column of 10 to 12 meter in height.

Citation in the Quran:

The word Arzah “pencil pins” is not mentioned in the Holy Qur’an.

Citation in the Hadit:

Ka’b reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said that the similitude of a believer is that of a standing crop in a field which is shaken by wind and then it comes to its original position but it stands at its roots. The similitude of a non-believer is that of a cypress tree which stands on its roots and nothing shake it but it is uprooted (with) one (violent stroke). Habitat & Distribution:

Pencil pins or Mediterranean Cypress is largely native to around the Mediterranean Sea. Jordan and Palestine is are two of the native origin of this plant which is very long-lived, with some trees reported to be over 1,000 years.
