The Qur’anic Botanic Garden (QBG) has launched ‘Fun & Learn’, an educational programme designed to teach primary school students in Qatar about plant life and the environment through various interactive activities.
The initiative is aimed at primary schoolchildren aged 6 to 11, and will be delivered in 20 UNESCO associated schools working under the supervision of the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.
Ms Fatima Saleh Al-Khulaifi, Project Manager of QBG, said: "We look forward to delivering this programme across primary schools in Qatar. ‘Fun & Learn’ has been designed to teach children about plants and the environment in a fun and interactive way. The curriculum will be delivered in Arabic, promoting the language while enabling students to learn more about plant life and the environment.”
The Al Wafa Model Independent School for Boys was selected as the first school to participate in the programme, with students taking part in interactive activities such as tree planting, which is aimed at increasing their awareness of tree conservation. An educational booklet was created for ‘Fun & Learn’ to offer students detailed information about plant life and the environment.
QBG is a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) and, through ‘Fun & Learn’, QBG aims to encourage student engagement and strengthen agricultural awareness in Qatar, therefore supporting QF's dedication to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
