Reference in the Quran or Hadith

Indian costus is mentioned in this hadith of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, reported by Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, when he was asked about the wage of a cupping therapist. He said: “The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, had cupping done to him by Abu-Taibah and gave him two sa’s of food as a wage. The Messenger asked Abu-Taibah’s masters to decrease the amount of money they demanded of him (from his work as their slave). He, peace be upon him said: “The best treatment with which you cure yourselves is cupping and sea costus.” He also said: “Do not torture your children who have throat pain by putting your fingers in their throats, but use costus.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, The Book of Medicine)
