True Senna

True senna is a medicinal plant that Arabs have known of old. It causes diarrhea, and dry leaves and pods are used for this purpose. The Arabic name of the plant may differ from one country to another.The used part: dry fruits and leaves

Senna is mentioned in the following hadith. Um-Salama said: “The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, came in. He said, “Why do I see you so feeble?” I said, “I drank a medicine to soften my bowels.” He said, “What is it?” I said, “Spurge.” He said, “Why do you take spurge? It is extremely hot. Rather, take senna and cumin; they are cure for everything except death.” (Silsilat Al-Ahadith Al-Sahihah, Fourth Volume, Medicine and Treatment)
