Sickle
Farming and Ploughing Instruments
An agricultural tool that is used for harvesting barley, rice, lentils, sesame and all grass crops. A sickle is made of steel or forged iron. It is curved like a question mark, its inner edge is sharp with teeth (serrated) to cut plants out, while the outer edge is broad. The sickle has a short iron leg that does not exceed a few centimeters. It is fixed within a cylindrical handle of wood. It enables farmers to hold the scythe to cut the crops. The name sickle may be given to the scythe or the shrimp.
